We are excited for the future and our continued growth! Our Technology Services team is seeking a talented individual for the role of Business Analyst. This position will reside in our Ohio locations: Cleveland or Akron. There will be some travel to other office locations or for training (< 10%).

The Business Analyst will be a member of the Technology Services team building tools to support the firm and our clients. Using an agile framework, the ideal candidate will work closely with teammates within Technology Services as well as other team members from across the Firm to refine existing products and bring new products and services to market. The Business Analyst will work with business stakeholders, notably the Business Product Managers, analyzing, eliciting, validating, and documenting business requirements, processes, and policies. Working hand in hand with the Product Owner and the development team, the Business Analyst plays a key role in bringing those requirements, processes, and policies to life through our information systems. The Business Analyst also serves as the Scrum Master by facilitating scrum ceremonies, clearing roadblocks, and helping the team live agile values and principles.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring business needs are accurately transformed into high quality requirements presented in Agile stories which the development team can leverage to deliver business results.
  • Understand business processes and technical options well enough to serve as a trusted advisor when evaluating new products or enhancements as well as resolving issues. Accomplished at making complex concepts easily understood and remembered.
  • Collaborate with Business Product Manager to create and maintain the strategic product roadmap and underlying stories.
  • Partner with the development team, including developers, QA and the Product Manager, to refine stories, prioritize the backlog and plan sprint goals; analyze tradeoffs; access value; help identify and resolve issues and roadblocks; and test results as part of the Agile delivery process.
  • Actively participate in team activities and knowledge sharing, including leading agile ceremonies like daily stand ups, retrospectives, and planning sessions.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and a sense of urgency to deliver within the development team.
  • Partner with the Business Product Manager on business implementation documentation and communication.
  • Collaborate with the other Business Analysts on processes, documentation, and best practices to continuously improve delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge on business analysis and Agile delivery.
  • Actively participate in definition and refinement of broader Technology Services and Cohen & Company processes and activities.

Experience and Skills:

Core Competencies

  • Experience leading / facilitating business requirement gathering sessions and writing clear, concise business requirements.
  • Experience documenting, analyzing processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience as a successful Scrum Master in an Agile team. Certifications preferred.
  • PSPO, IIBA or similar BA certifications a strong plus.
  • Experience with data analysis and SQL a strong plus.
  • Experience in Professional Services organization a strong plus.
  • Teamwork skills essential.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of IT Business Analyst experience
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, including:
    • Communicating work progress and issues within an agile team
    • Articulating pros and cons of solution options with business stakeholders and development team
    • Communicating status and progress of initiatives with key business stakeholders spanning all levels
  • Strong Customer Service orientation
